Stamp Triptych Assignment #10

Artist Reflection #10:
In the next assignment we had to create 3 stamps, each a different style.  The strongest aspect of my work is my text stamp. I believe my text stamp is the strongest because it is visually the most appealing to the eye. In my text stamp, I had to include my own text corresponding with Gronkowski. An aspect of my work I could improve on is my color scheme. I could work on my color scheme more because my theme is Gronkowski, or the Patriots. The official colors for the patriots are red, white, and blue. However, I could represent more of that color scheme in some of my stamps.
An easy aspect of this activity is the layout of the stamps. When we first began the assignment, the first work we needed to create was a stamp template. This seemed to easily be the easiest part of beginning the assignment. The most difficult part of this activity was bringing the entire work together. Meaning, combining each stamp into each document. Not only was it difficult to place all three stamps into one topic. But you also needed to make sure the stamps appear well together.
In this art activity, the objective was to create a series of three multi-layered postage stamps that are visually connected by color and theme. I displayed the objective by creating three stamps all with the same theme of Gronkowski. Each of my stamps were also connected by color because I used the Patriots colors throughout my stamps. If I were to do this project again, I would make the same stamp triptych, but with a different style. This meaning, instead of Gronkowski, I would try a different theme. In conclusion, in the next assignment we had to create 3 stamps, each a different style, minimalist, repetition, and text.

Painting Assignment #9

Artist Reflection:

The next assignment is the painting assignment. In this assignment, we were to create a painting built off of a google image. Once you found an image you like, you were to begin painting over the image in a separate layer. You were to create the painting without making it look filled in but realistic. In my painting, I created a tiger using my own, creative colors. I believe the strongest technical aspect of my work is the texturized brushes I used. I used texturized brushes to display the realistic effects of my tiger painting. A technical aspect of my work I can improve on is the detail of my tiger's nose. I noticed that my tiger's nose looks partially filled in and could definitely used more texture or color values.
There were easy and difficult aspects of my tiger painting. The easiest part of this art activity was the tracing of the tiger in the original google image. This wasn't difficult because there wasn't too much effort needed to follow the outline of the image. The most difficult part of this activity was the texturizing of the tiger. This was extremely difficult because you use only brushes to create the realistic effect of the tiger. Because of this, the process becomes an act of trial and error one what looks the best as you create your painting.
The objective of this painting was to transform a real image into a painting using various brushes and opacity changes to achieve a realistic painting. I demonstrated this objective in my painting in areas like my entire tiger and the background. The detail of both my tiger and background were created using various texturized brushes as well as opacity changes to create a realistic painting of my tiger. If I could do this art activity again, I would try creating the same tiger. However, I would create the tiger using its colors as seen in reality rather than my own vibrant colors. I would do this differently because I would like to compare which I enjoy the look of more. In conclusion, in this assignment, we were to create a painting built off of a google image.

Pop Art Assignment #8

Artist Reflection:

In our next two assignments, we created different styles of pop art. In the first assignment I created a single styled pop art using fill layers. In the next assignment, I continued to use fill layers but also created a 2x2 grid along with a difference in hues. The strongest technical aspect of my work is the coloring of each of the assignments. I colored each of my images using the fill layer tool with various colors. Although I am proud of the application of colors, I believe I could have improved on more specific details. For example, I could have applied more than just 6 colors to each of my images.
The pop art assignment can get difficult in certain situations like following the steps of the instructions. However, the easiest part of this activity was following the steps to create the dotted look of the image. This wasn't difficult because it was only a few steps to already give the look of pop art. The most difficult part of this activity was following the steps. Specifically, at the beginning of the coloring process, the threshold option became confusing. Although it was difficult, I was able to complete coloring the fill layers to finish the pop art.
The objective of this activity was to create pop art by adjusting the hues and saturation, creating a clipping path, and using fill layers. I demonstrated this objective by following the instructions and using the following to complete my pop art. For example, in the second assignment I adjusted the hue and saturation to create the Andy Warhol inspired pop art. If I could do this art activity again, I would probably try several other images because I enjoyed the process of creating the pop art. For example, one day I would like to attempt to create a pop art of myself or of one of my family members. In conclusion, in our next two assignments, we created two different styles of pop art.

Animal Hybrid- Assignment #7

Animal Hybrid Artist Reflection:
In this assignment, I created an animal hybrid with a hedge hog and a turtle. The idea of this assignment was to combine features of two animals together. The strongest technical aspect of my work is the frontier of the turtle. In this image, I photoshopped the front of the turtle to the top of the hedge hog to create the image of a new, hybrid animal. This is my strongest technical aspect because it makes the animal appear to be real and actually have a hedge hog-like shell. A technical aspect of my work that can be improved on is the face of my turtle. In the face of my turtle, I attempted to add the hedge hog's fur texture to the turtle's skin. However, I believe I could have made the fur look more realistic than it appears.
An easy part of this animal hybrid activity is the beginning steps. In the beginning of the assignment, I added only the front of the turtle and just that was simple to add the front of the turtle to the back of the hedge hog. The more difficult part of this activity is definitely making the animal hybrid look realistic as if it were a new species. I tried to make the hybrid appear more realistic by adding different textures with the clone tool. For example, I added textures from the the hedge hog's fur to the turtles chest.
The objective of this activity is combining the elements of one animal to another to create an new animal hybrid.  I demonstrated this objective by adding elements from my turtle to my hedge hog and elements from hedge hog to the turtle. For example, I added the leg of a turtle to the body of a hedge hog. Another example is I added the fur of the hedge hog to the face of the turtle. If I could do this art activity again, I would rearrange and experiment with the features of my two animals. For example, I may add the hedge hog's legs to the turtles body instead. In conclusion, in this assignment, I created an animal hybrid of a hedge hog and a turtle.

Radial Symmetry Collage - Assignment #6

Radial Symmetry-

The sixth assignment we had to complete was the radial symmetry assignment. In this assignment the objective was to create a design using radial symmetry involving both colors and shapes. The strongest technical aspect of my work is the radial symmetry of my work. Radial symmetry is symmetry among all four corners of the art. I believe this is my strongest aspect because I managed to assemble each of my shapes so they are symmetrical in all four corners. A technical aspect of my work that can be improved on is my color scheme. I think I could have arranged my colors differently to make the design pop more.
The easiest part of this activity is the placing the shapes so they are symmetrical. All you needed to do was to follow the guidelines the program gives you to make sure all four shapes are symmetrical. The most difficult part of this activity is the changing the colors and opacities. This was difficult because you aren't always sure what certain arrangements look like unless you try them. Therefore, it becomes a long process of trial and error.
The objective of this art activity is to create a complex radially symmetrical design with different shapes and colors. I demonstrated this objective in my design by including several examples of both circular and rectangular shapes all of which appear as different colors. In addition to this, if I could do this art activity again, I would change some of the arrangements of my shapes. I would do this differently because I believe my design needs a little more of rectangular shapes towards the center because it is overwhelmed by circles. In conclusion, in our sixth assignment we had to create a radial symmetry design.
