Animal Hybrid Artist Reflection:
In this assignment, I created an animal hybrid with a hedge hog and a turtle. The idea of this assignment was to combine features of two animals together. The strongest technical aspect of my work is the frontier of the turtle. In this image, I photoshopped the front of the turtle to the top of the hedge hog to create the image of a new, hybrid animal. This is my strongest technical aspect because it makes the animal appear to be real and actually have a hedge hog-like shell. A technical aspect of my work that can be improved on is the face of my turtle. In the face of my turtle, I attempted to add the hedge hog's fur texture to the turtle's skin. However, I believe I could have made the fur look more realistic than it appears.
An easy part of this animal hybrid activity is the beginning steps. In the beginning of the assignment, I added only the front of the turtle and just that was simple to add the front of the turtle to the back of the hedge hog. The more difficult part of this activity is definitely making the animal hybrid look realistic as if it were a new species. I tried to make the hybrid appear more realistic by adding different textures with the clone tool. For example, I added textures from the the hedge hog's fur to the turtles chest.
The objective of this activity is combining the elements of one animal to another to create an new animal hybrid. I demonstrated this objective by adding elements from my turtle to my hedge hog and elements from hedge hog to the turtle. For example, I added the leg of a turtle to the body of a hedge hog. Another example is I added the fur of the hedge hog to the face of the turtle. If I could do this art activity again, I would rearrange and experiment with the features of my two animals. For example, I may add the hedge hog's legs to the turtles body instead. In conclusion, in this assignment, I created an animal hybrid of a hedge hog and a turtle.
This is a very believable hybrid animal. Nice job merging the two animals together to read as one.
